HALNy HL-4G Configuration

Service scenario

HL-4G/HL-4G2 can work in two modes – HGU (Home Gateway Unit) and SFU (Single Family Unit).
SFU mode configuration is presented here.
Managing ONT mode is done by setting up/or not bridge port and VEIP for ONT. In SFU mode we need to set bridge port and VEIP (only if we want to use ip-host).
SFU mode allows to prepare different configurations – such as QinQ tunnel or VLAN translation on the ONT. In this tutorial, we will focus on HGU mode configuration.

ONT modes switching HGU<->SFU

Switching between HGU and SFU modes is described here.

This tutorial is based on ONT with firmware V2.0.18 and ZHONE mx1U19x running with firmware MX 2.5.1.518

In example configuration we used below VLANs:
VLAN 100 – INTERNET
VLAN 200 – IPTV (multicast uplink port 3)
VLAN 400 – MGMT

Example for ONT configured on second GPON port with ID 13

0. Change vendor serial number

  • Log to ONT via LAN: 192.168.33.1/cgi-bin/vendor-support.asp.
  • Change Vendor to ZHONE ZNTS
  • Apply configuration, ONT will reboot

1. Create DBA profile

Zhone# new gpon-traffic-profile dba-enabled = true dba-fixed-us-ubr-bw = 1024 dba-max-us-bw = 102400 1

2. Check unregistered ONTs

Zhone# gpononu show
Processing list of 256
This command may take several minutes to complete.
